* Marla Corts (Aucoin 2000) MARLA CORTS, our first
introduction, is named in honor of the Samford University president's wife.
It derives from Seller's EDGE
AHEAD and Kaskel's SENEGAL, and it is registered with AHS.
Some have told me it reminds them of Easter,
and call it an Easter pink. The most prominent color of the complicated, etched
eye is repeated in the inner edge bordered by a complimentary edge of
gold. Bloom size is from six to six and a half inches, and
confirmed in Ohio along with a bud count that exceeds 20. A vigorous
grower, it increased from one fan to nine
after first blooming in May 1999.
We used its pollen on many things, including Lee Pickles
TWO FACES OF EVE, PARDON ME BOY and MABEL MARIE. We have seedlings from those as well as AWESOME BLOSSOM,
MILDRED MITCHELL, TET. DRAGON'S EYE and IDA'S BRAID, among others. This year we
used pollen from extra early season bloomers like LACE COOKIES on it, to reinforce it's very early blooming traits. The sooner they start
blooming, the more they can re-bloom.
MARLA CORTS is available for delivery at $77.00 plus shipping.
